Sigma® 500

Flexitallic Sigma® 500 is fully restructured sintered PTFE based sheet sealing material ensuring maximum resistance to creep under the high compressive loads generated in bolted flanged connections. Compression is enhanced through the inclusion of silica microspheres. Sigma® 500 as with all Sigma materials is easy to cut and handle. It is robust to both installation and removal previously used connections requiring minimal attention with regard to flange clean up and inspection.
Typical Application

Flexitallic Sigma 500 finds use in a wide variety of sealing applications. Its is particularly suited to sealing against a wide variety of aggressive chemical media such as strong oxidising and reducing agents, acids and alkalis. Inherently non-contaminating and FDA compliant the product is also suitable for use sealing against foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals. Compression enhancement results in a softer material with reduced seating stress properties enabling Sigma 500 to be used in load compromised situations or where sealing contact surfaces may be damaged.

Sigma® 511

Flexitallic Sigma 511 is fully restructured, sintered PTFE based sheet sealing material minimising stress retention losses associated with virgin and filled PTFE based sheet sealing products. Cutting, installation and gasket removal is easy compared to many other sheet sealing material technologies saving time and money.
Typical Application

Flexitallic Sigma 511 is incorporates a silica based filler system affording excellent chemical resistance to most commonly used mineral acids used in wide range of industrial processes, such as the manufacture of sulphuric acid and most common nitrate and sulphate based fertilizers. The material also has a proven track and approvals for use in cryogenic sealing applications; such as those found on air liquefaction and LNG facilities. As with the rest of the Flexitallic Sigma range the product has been engineered to be inherently non-contaminating and FDA compliant making product suitable for use in clean applications.

Flexitallic Sigma 533 is a fully restructured, sintered PTFE based sheet sealing material dramatically reducing load induced creep ensuring a long term, low maintenance leak free seal. Reduced maintenance time with regard to gasket installation, removal and flange clean-up reduces costs associated with both planned and emergency shutdowns.

Flexitallic Sigma 533 is incorporates a barium sulphate filler system affording excellent chemical resistance to most commonly used alkalis used in wide range of industrial processes, such as the manufacture of sodium and potassium hydroxide the pulp and paper industry and the processing of bauxite ore in the manufacture of aluminium . Compared to some of the other Sigma grades Sigma 533 contains no pigment, this along with FDA compliance can further enhance product suitability in clean sealing applications.

Sigma® 588

Flexitallic Sigma® 588 is fully a restructured sintered PTFE based sheet sealing material ensuring maximum resistance to creep when used in bolted flanged connections. Compression is enhanced through the presence of a secondary, impermeable microcellular sealing faced sintered onto a rigid PTFE core. This results in a sealing material capable of sealing across a wide variety flange materials including steel, glass and plastic whilst maintaining a significant degree of structural rigidity. Sigma® 588 is free from fillers and as such is capable of sealing across the widest range of chemical media from mineral acids of all concentrations through to strong alkalis. Unlike expanded PTFE materials Sigma® 588 retains structural rigidity benefiting in the installation of larger gaskets. As with all Sigma® materials Sigma® 588 is easy to cut and handle. It is robust to both installation and removal requiring minimal attention with regard to flange clean up and inspection. The product is available as cut gaskets or in sheet form.
